All non-essential services in Victoria and New South Wales will be closing down in the next 48 hours.
Essential services include supermarkets, medical services, post offices, petrol stations, and pharmacies.
The closure comes as rates of infection across Australia are increasing at 20-25% per day.
For now, schools remain open. But school holidays will begin on Tuesday in Victora.
Both Victoria and NSW Premier’s expect more stringent measures to be put in place after tonight’s cabinet meeting.
NSW reached 533 confirmed cases as of 8 pm on Saturday. And Victoria has 296 cases.
