The AFL has suspended its season due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Following announcements of the restrictions of non-essential travel in Australia yesterday, the league decided to suspend its season until 31 May. But the suspension will be reviewed again at the end of April.
The NRL had planned to continue operating until they’re ordered to close down as of earlier today. Players were self-isolating and were prepared to shift playing to Central Queensland if needed. And some players hypothesized that the popularity of the game could grow with other sports cancelled or suspended.
However, the story developed throughout the day with the NRL offices closed until at least May 1st and the league suspending play.
The NRZ in New Zealand has decided to completely cancel its season.
